Beckhams avoid red carpets

David Beckham’s family still aren’t used to the red carpet.

The former soccer player may be a global superstar alongside wife Victoria, but he admits that he prefers not to go to showbiz events like movie premieres.

However, the 38-year-old made an exception when he attended the premiere of The Class of 92, which he stars in.

“I don’t think any of us are used to [the red carpet]. I don’t do many premieres – I don’t think I’ve done more than one,” he confessed to British magazine Now.

The Class of 92 is a documentary film charting the rise of six young footballers at one of Britain’s biggest soccer clubs, Manchester United. One of these being a young David, whose career was launched during this time.

Despite this big screen adaptation of his rise to stardom, David isn’t eager to rush into another project and admits that he is no actor.

“I’m not very good at acting so it wouldn’t be a good idea to go into that kind of industry. But I enjoyed doing this film because it’s obviously something that I know about. It was part of my football years and it was special,” he said.

Rumors circulated that David was in the running to receive a knighthood in Britain’s Queen Elizabeth II’s New Year Honors list for his services to sport, but that didn’t turn out to be the case.

He’s not too downhearted though, and admits that his children may follow in their mother’s musical footsteps rather than his sporting ones.

“They love music,” David said of his four children, Brooklyn, 14, Romeo, 11, Cruz, eight and two-year-old Harper.

“My eldest one especially, but they’re all into singing and dancing.”
