Beckham ‘refuses to uproot family’

David Beckham reportedly won’t uproot his family if he moves to Miami.

The soccer star is believed to be negotiating a deal for a Major League Soccer expansion club in the Florida hotspot, just 10 months after his wife, Victoria, and the couple’s four children relocated from Los Angeles to London.

According to UK newspaper The Mirror, David is keen not to put the family through another move across continents.

“David is not moving his family to Miami,” a purported friend of the star said.

Investors are reportedly concerned the decision could mar the deal. The 38-year-old athlete is said to be working out how to please his colleagues without sacrificing his family’s well-being.

“Although not a huge stumbling block, it is causing ripples among the Miami groups linked to the bid,” another source said.

“Essentially at this stage David is the franchise and he needs to show Miami that he is committed to building a team there.”

Investors have reportedly offered the star a mansion in a posh area of Coral Gables so that he will always have a place to stay.

David hinted at a potential deal last month although it’s yet to be officially announced.

“I am excited about owning a team. continuing to be part of the MLS in the future,” he said, according to the Miami Herald. “Miami excites me because I think it’s a city that is very excitable. I’ve been to watch the basketball there. I’ve seen the Dolphins play. It’s a city where the people in the city love their sport.”
