David Beckham’s son is an “annoying runner”.
The 38-year-old sportsman has opened up about how he and 11-year-old Romeo, who he has with his wife Victoria, regularly go on early morning jogs together.
After retiring from professional soccer in May, David shared how proud he is that his second-born is growing up with the same passion for fitness he has.
Setting up one scene during a chat with British newspaper The Times, David admitted he set his alarm clock for 6.30am as he was unsure whether his son would wake up in time for their planned start.
“At 6am on the dot, I felt a tug on my arm and I heard, ‘Daddy, it’s time to get up,'” David laughed. “He’s one of those annoying runners who always want to be one step in front of you. We ran three and a half miles and the third mile was the quickest of all of them. I was breathing hard. He was a step ahead of me the whole way. My drive must have rubbed off on him. I was very proud of him.”
David also has sons Brooklyn and Cruz and daughter Harper with his fashion designer spouse. He is happy with how his children are developing and the handsome star credits his own parents – Sandra and David – for passing down their character traits.
“I was lucky. My dad pushed me and pushed me, but he gave me a lot of support. Some kids don’t react well to that, but I was one of the lucky ones. He’d put an arm round me when it was needed,” David explained.
“I just like to win, even if it’s playing in the garden with my kids. I take it easy on them to a certain point, but they have got to learn to win. They do actually win most of the time, certainly when there are three of them against me. My parents had a great work ethic. It’s about sacrifice and dedication.”
