Drew Barrymore was worried a baboon would rip her face off.
The actress has to encounter the monkey in new film Blended, but the beast got a bit too close for comfort for Drew.
She listened closely to the animal experts, but couldn’t stop her furry co-star from taking a liking to her face.
“The baboon handler said, ‘Don’t make eye contact with him whatever you do! Don’t show him your teeth.’ He crawled up and got up in my face,” she told Access Hollywood before explaining that she kept her mouth shut in order to not provoke the animal.
“I thought, if I get my face ripped off by this baboon how am I going to go home and explain that to my husband and kid!”
The film also stars Adam Sandler and tells the story of a blind date gone wrong, with the movie’s leads finding themselves stuck together at a resort for families with their kids. But love soon starts to grow.
Set in South Africa there were lots of wild animals featured in the movie, but none more brazen than the baboon.
“He just crawled up and got in my face. But trust me, after you have been told this baboon is a threat, then he’s up in your grill – it’s terrifying!” she smiled.
Blended marks Drew’s return to film after she gave birth to her second daughter, Frankie, with husband Will Kopelman last month.
She credits Adam with helping to ease her back into work.
“I didn’t think I could go back to work, honestly. I didn’t want to be away from my kids and it just wasn’t the priority. With Adam, he makes everything really safe because he really creates an environment where kids can come and be a part of it. It was a really big lesson for me,” she recently told People magazine.
