Arnold Schwarzenegger loves to take a nap.
The beefed up movie star still prides himself on undertaking his own action stunts and has just finished filming The Expendables 3, which also co-stars veteran hardman Sylvester Stallone, as well as Jason Statham, Antonio Banderas and Mel Gibson.
Despite his still fine physique, Arnold is not immune to feeling sleepy and happily takes a nap when his body needs to rest.
“Yeah, I sometimes take a nap in the afternoon,” he laughed to British newspaper Mirror. “I sometimes take them when I feel sleepy and I am at home, then I have the luxury of lying down for a hour.
“You get an hour lunch break and then you work until seven at night, so there’s not like, ‘OK guys, why don’t you continue, I am going to take a little nap.’ There’s no time for that.”
Although he’s a fan of a getting some shut eye when he can, the 66-year-old muscle man is still in fighting form.
But age has caught up with Arnold, whose body doesn’t recover as quickly as it used to in his younger days.
“I still get picked up and thrashed around and that’s just the way it is, and if you don’t like that, then you are in the wrong business,” he divulged. “The advantage is to be in shape, you can do all of those things and you do feel the same way you did 20 years ago. But the body does not recuperate the same, as fast.
“It’s like if you do something unusual and you are tired, the next day your body doesn’t come back as quickly as when you were 30 years old. But, other than that, I can still do the running, the jumping and the fight scenes.”
After a hiatus from the movie world while serving as the Governor of California for seven years, Arnold is once again one of the busiest men in Hollywood. As well as The Expendables 3 the Austrian-born star has three other films in the pipeline, including a new installment of the Terminator franchise.
