Christina Applegate was once asked to “punch” Will Ferrell in his bullet wound.
The 42-year-old actress plays Veronica Corningstone in both Anchorman movies, who eventually becomes the wife of Will’s alter ego Ron Burgundy in the latest installment The Legend Continues.
When asked to share one of her favorite moments working alongside the actor, Christina recalled a romantic scene the pair shot for the original 2004 film The Legend of Ron Burgundy.
“[Will had] gotten shot and [director] Adam [McKay] yelled out, ‘Say to her, punch me in the bullet wound,’ as we’re, like, kissing and eating each other up,” she laughed to metro.co.uk. “Basically as a sexual thing he says, ‘Punch me in my bullet wound.’ I did and then I started laughing really hard. It was really gross.”
While it didn’t make the final cut of the movie the laugh-worthy clip was included in Wake Up, Ron Burgundy: The Lost Movie, a feature boasting unused footage.
Christina was thrilled to work with Will again in the sequel, which is out next week.
While Ron Burgundy is known for his arrogant and self-obsessed personality Christina insists her co-star is the complete opposite in real life.
“Will is a really nice family man. He’s innately funny. The things he comes up with are brilliant. But he’s not pompous and he’s not a buffoon. He’s a really smart person,” she smiled.
Also returning for the hit movie are David Koechner, Paul Rudd and Steve Carell, who make up Ron’s news team.
Although Christina was surrounded by mainly men on set she claims she was the loudest of them all.
“I have the worst mouth of the whole group and I’m the most obnoxious. They’re all really quiet, awesome guys. They’re really unassuming and funny but they’re not zany people in any sense of the word,” she admitted.
“When they start doing improvisation it’s really to make the other person laugh. It’s all really supportive. It’s not a competition. It’s the best working experience I’ve ever had.”
