Anna Faris “can’t get out” of comedic roles.
The actress is best known for making people laugh in the Scary Movie franchise and funny films such as I Give It a Year and The House Bunny.
While she might seem like a natural with quick quips, Anna never thought she’d succeed in the genre.
“Nobody identified me as funny in any way,” she told Backstage magazine about growing up.
“So it’s surprising I’m in comedy… and I can’t get out!”
The 36-year-old proved that she has what it takes to be a serious actor in 2005 drama Brokeback Mountain.
However, Anna doesn’t have any preference when it comes to genre and is more concerned about doing each job well.
“In my 20s, I felt like I had something to prove to the town,” she admitted. “But it’s all about the character. I just want to play interesting characters, and if it happens to be in something dramatic, that would be amazing.”
The actress also starred in Sofia Coppola’s drama Lost in Translation, but it was more of a comedic role.
Her audition for the part will always stick in Anna’s memory as she was surprised by a legendary producer-and-actor.
“[Sofia] asked me to sing the song Nobody Does It Better, pretending like I was drunk and doing karaoke,” she remembered.
“So I’m singing and generally making an ass out of myself, and the door to the office starts to open. And in walks Warren Beatty.
“So Sofia introduces us and goes, ‘Anna was in Scary Movie.’ And Warren looks at me and goes, ‘That was pretty f**king funny.’”
