Jennifer Aniston and Justin Theroux reportedly made some big decision on their make-or-break vacation.
The couple, who have been together for two-and-a-half years, often fly to Mexico for their holidays but this year saw a more serious element to the trip.
The pair have been spending increasing amounts of time apart of late, as they navigate their successful careers at opposite ends of the country.
“Jen and Justin’s holiday to Cabo was a real make-or-break trip on which they discussed their relationship at length. After a tense few months they wanted to spend some much needed time away together to patch things up, and decide how to move forward,” a source close to the couple revealed to Britain’s Grazia magazine.
“Cabo was all about putting the last few months behind them and coming up with ways to reconnect. They both agreed that it was worth trying to make things work.”
Jennifer, 44, is based in Los Angeles and busy with film roles, while Justin is currently residing on the East Coast of America filming TV series The Leftovers in New York.
Although images of the pair on holiday showed what appeared to be a happy union, sources say the relationship is tense – though both are keen to make it work.
They got engaged in 2012 but have yet to set a date for the wedding.
“As well as continuing to have couples’ therapy, Jen and Justin talked at length about the possibility of her moving back to New York to give their relationship a proper shot, because at the moment they are barely seeing each other.
“Jen and Justin decided that this was the only answer if they want to stay together, because having a long-distance relationship just wasn’t working out for them. They hated being apart. Jen suggested it and intends to head back to New York for a few months, starting at the end of January,” the insider added.
