Amber Riley never dreamt she would win Dancing With The Stars.
The Glee actress took home the trophy in the final of the US TV show yesterday, winning alongside her pro partner Derek Hough. The 27-year-old star loved every minute of being twirled around the dancefloor and admitted her success would take a while to sink in.
“When I first came into the competition, winning was not on my mind, to be honest,” she told Access Hollywood.
“I didn’t know how long I was gonna make it. And then, a lot of things started happening with my knees and my body, but I just pressed through to the end, and I endured. I’m really proud of myself. I really am.”
After each week’s show Amber was deluged by tweets from fans who were inspired by her. She initially took part because she wanted to better herself, but as the series wore on she started to work hard to pay back her admirers for their support.
“I try every day to be a really good person, and I did something that was really difficult,” she explained. “Maybe people like to see people triumph because they make people feel like they can win.”
Some of her biggest fans came in the shape of her Glee castmates, who flocked to congratulate the star on Twitter.
“AHHHHHHHHHH!!!! YES YES YES YES YES!!!!! @MsAmberPRiley. So friggin proud of this girl!!! Love you so much, Amber! @MsAmberPRiley,” wrote Chris Colfer. “WE’RE SO PROUD OF YOU AMBER!!! @MsAmberPRiley (sic)”
Lea Michele added: “@MsAmberPRiley!!!! OMG!!! So proud of you!!! ??? #DWTSWINNER (sic).”
Corbin Bleu came in second place, with Jack Osbourne taking third. The former reality TV star was thrilled to make it to the final, using Twitter to show his excitement.
“Thank you all so much for supporting me on @DancingABC! I might not have won, but I put up one hell of a fight! #DWTS (sic),” he wrote.
Jack’s sister Kelly and mother Sharon were in the audience, with Sharon using the social networking site to praise her son’s achievements.
“@OfficialOzzy and I could not be more proud of our @JackOsbourne! Thank you all so much for your love and support! (sic),” she wrote, referencing her husband Ozzy.
