Amanda Bynes ‘wants to be called Sandra’

Amanda Bynes reportedly refuses to be called by her given name in hospital.

The 27-year-old former child star was placed under involuntary psychiatric hold last month after setting a small fire in a residential driveway in her hometown of Thousand Oaks, California.

The hold was extended last week and Amanda was put under the contemporary conservatorship of her mother, Lynn.

Recent reports suggested the star had been exhibiting signs she is suffering from schizophrenia.

While that has not been confirmed, a source tells America’s Star magazine the former actress’ behavior has been worrying.

Apparently the star does not allow anyone to refer to her by her first name and hates seeing herself on television.

“Amanda tells everyone her name is Sandra. If people call her Amanda, she throws a huge tantrum and storms off to her room,” the source said.

“If she is on TV, she gets very angry. Once, she banged on the nurse’s window and screamed, ‘Turn off the f**king TV!’”

According to the purported insider, doctors also fear for Amanda’s physical safety.

She’s said to be a difficult patient and has a long list of demands for staff.

“Amanda regularly talks to herself, walks fast and bangs her head against the walls and doors,” the source continued. “She won’t cooperate with staff and acts out when the food comes. All she wants to eat is pepperoni pizza with extra cheese and onion. One time she threw her tray of food at the wall when she couldn’t have pizza. She tells everyone she only lets her mom come to see her because that’s how she gets her stash of Diet Coke, Sprite and pizza.”

Temporary legal conservatorship permits Lynn to control decisions involving the health and finances of her daughter.

Earlier reports suggested the matriarch was looking into putting Amanda in a more private facility to continue treatment.

“The truth of the matter is that Amanda definitely has a serious problem, and it’ll be very scary if she’s allowed to leave the hospital. She is not trying to get better, because she doesn’t think there’s anything wrong with her. It’s really sad,” the source said.

Lynn’s conservatorship will remain in effect until September 30.

She can request an extension at that time.
