Amanda Bynes’ mother Lynn has been granted temporary legal conservatorship over the actress.
The 27-year-old former child star was placed under involuntary psychiatric hold last month after setting a residential driveway on fire and she is apparently being treated for schizophrenia.
Radar Online reports that her finances will be controlled by Lynn for the time being, as a judge made the matriarch Amanda’s conservator on Friday.
Lynn has legal control over Amanda’s “estate and person” according to the website, but she will have to secure a $3.57 million bond before the conservatorship is officially in effect.
Amanda’s mom will also have to run any final decisions about assets or the star’s medical treatment by Amanda’s attorney Mary Shea before any actions can be taken.
Since Amanda is now in hospital under psychiatric evaluation, medical decisions are placed in the hands of the court until she is released.
The conservatorship is in effect at least until September 30 according to the Associated Press, but it is possible for Lynn to request an extension.
Also on Friday, TMZ reported that Amanda was placed on an extended psychiatric hold after her doctors pleaded with the court for more time to treat her.
She was not in court at the time, as she was deemed “gravely disabled as a result of a mental disorder”.
