Alba: People thought I was nuts

Jessica Alba

Jessica Alba dealt with “doors closed in her face” while trying to branch out from acting.

The Sin City actress has a children’s care brand named the Honest Company but at first she wasn’t taken seriously for her off-screen enterprise.

The 32-year-old tried to establish herself for a long time before business really took off.

“It took me three years of spending my own money, pounding the pavement, getting doors closed in my face and people thinking I was nuts, “ she told Editorialist.

“But then I found the right partners, we put together a great deck and once we streamlined the concept, the design aspect and the business model, it was really easy for people to understand.”

The star has two daughters Honor, five, and two-year-old Haven with husband Cash Warren.

After welcoming her last tot Jessica donned restrictive corsets to help her get back in shape.

“It’s not that big of a deal. A lot of people do it; it’s really common. A friend suggested it—it’s something that people do in Africa and India and it’s not an uncommon thing—though they usually just wrap it with cloth,” she explained. “It just puts your stomach muscles and all your organs [back into place]. So it’s just to give your body muscle memory of where it was, but you don’t lose weight or anything. You have to diet and exercise for that.”
