Paula Abdul thinks it would take a “hefty price tag” for Simon Cowell to change diapers.
The X Factor creator is currently expecting his first child with socialite Lauren Silverman, following an affair while she was still married to his friend Andrew.
Simon is known for his showbiz rather than parenting skills, which means his friends have some doubts about how he will take to fatherhood.
When asked by Access Hollywood how much money she would pay to watch her former American Idol co-judge change a diaper, Paula remained jokingly cynical.
“I have to think about that because I don’t think it will happen,” she laughed.
“So you have to put a hefty price tag on that!
“He ain’t gonna do it no matter how much money. He won’t.”
There has been speculation about who Simon, 53, will ask to be godmother.
He has remained close to ex-girlfriends Sinitta and Mezhgan Hussainy, who could be an option, but Paula thinks it’s Simon who could do with some mothering.
“It wouldn’t be playing godmother to the son – [Simon’s] the one who needs to be taken care of!” she giggled. “The son’s gonna be fine. [Simon] needs the diaper changes.”
“[He’ll be] fantastic,” she added.
Simon and Lauren’s baby is rumored to be a boy and the TV mogul is apparently considering calling the little one Eric after his late father.
For now, he has settled on an affectionate nickname after seeing a scan of his child.
“I called it ‘Tad’ because it was like a little tadpole – just, like, moving around,” he revealed recently.
