Aaron Paul: Pinkman pushed me

Aaron Paul

Aaron Paul doubts he’ll ever play a role as complex as his Breaking Bad character.

The 34-year-old actor became a global star thanks to the smash hit series, based around one man’s quest to make the world’s purest crystal meth.

Aaron took on the role of Jesse Pinkman and bagged himself two Emmy Awards for his portrayal of the messed up kid with a heart.

“When will I ever play another role as complex?” he mused to British newspaper Metro. “Unless I do another TV series that’s similar to Breaking Bad but I don’t really see that happening for me.”

Aaron appears to have left his TV days behind him with a string of films to his name.

His currently starring in big budget car race movie Need for Speed, which is based on the video game of the same title.

“Fast And Furious didn’t start the genre, nor will it end it. This is more of a throwback to films such as Bullitt, Vanishing Point and Smokey and the Bandit,” he enthused.

Aaron also has a starring role as J.J. in A Long Way Down, due out later this month.

The comedy drama is based on a Nick Hornby novel and stars Pierce Brosnan, Toni Collette and Imogen Poots, who also appears in Need for Speed.

“J.J. has some similarities to Jesse. I think Jesse is very lost. He’s struggling to get his footing. He’s somewhat tortured. And J.J. is definitely tortured. He can’t deal with himself, which is so awful,” Aaron explained.

Although he has fast become one of the most sought after names in cinema, Aaron says that doing small bit parts on shows such as ER and the X-Files when he started out never bothered him.

“I never really had a struggle, because I was totally content. I was happy to do the work,” he reflected.
