Dalton Dingus is a 9-year-old boy from Salyersville, KY, living with stage 4 cystic fibrosis.
He has been sent home because there is nothing else doctors can do. They have only given him a couple of weeks to live. He told his mom he is ready to go because he is tired. He wants to beat the Guinness World Record for the most Christmas Cards. The record is 35,000. and Dalton currently has 23,000+ cards.

Based on what I have researched, the Guinness World Records has retired the record on greeting cards. I honestly at first thought this was another urban legend because I recall a similar thing a few years ago involving get-well cards for a hospital patient…it was all an urban legend.
That may be true, but we can still spread a little joy for someone else.
Wow… its crazy that people can be so cold when someone is going through such a hard time… send the little boy a card you ass.. all he wants is a bunch of cards to make him happy… and you have to be negative. As a mother of 2 i couldnt imagine what that family is going through.. but they willrecieve a very special card from a few people in my family i promise you that. Well, if Guiness retired it, they should un-retire it! This little guy deserves his wish. Has anybody notified the Make A Wish Foundation? How would you go about doing that?

Sorry, I should also have said that the articles do mention that there is no longer a category for cards, but that the old record can still be broken and they may reinstate the category on account of all this. Does it matter though if it makes the kid happy just to get the mail?

I teach 7th grade in Louisville. My classes will be making cards tomorrow to send to him. My cousin died last year. Such a terrible thing when someone so young has such a horrible disease. Prayers are with Dalton and his family.
