Hamilton girl fights all the way to Gold

Kayla Harrison made history by winning the women’s 78-kilogram Olympic judo gold medal on Thursday, the United States’ first-ever gold in the sport. “I had a school here in Hamilton and they came to visit. Kayla was 6 years old. From the time she stepped on the mat, she loved judo,” said Franz Herzog, of Budakai Judo. Harrison got her start at a judo club in Hamilton, and her first coach said the woman is the pride of the gym.
